Chapter 13: Expanse

Jake reached out into the darkness. Everything was still. He felt alone in a deep never ending expanse.
“Open your eyes”.
An indistinct voice kept calling out to him. He reached out again. A hand lay on his shoulder. With a sharp twist he tried to push back, but again there was nothing to push against.
“Look!” the voice said, more eagerly this time.
Jake opened his eyes, as his senses returned to him, his view was replaced with a vast scene. It was Eta. A view he'd never expected, one of it's horizon reaching far out into space.
“Enjoy it while you can, the main burn is due soon, and that window will be facing the other way.” Eleanor pointed out.
Jake was in the middle of the cabin, floating weightlessly. He wondered if they were in orbit.
“Thought he'd sleep for the whole journey!” Wayne sniggered back towards Jake, “Don't you know how to handle 'Gees'? You were out cold.”
“He's too young...” said the voice of the occupant in the seat behind Jake's.
That voice, their unexpected boarder, it was Tycho!
